Is It Really Depression?

So many people these days are depressed or so very tired that they don’t even know they are depressed.

Interestingly enough the first thing women usually do is run to a primary care doctor or psychiatrist and are immediately put on some form of medication. Men usually try to hide it and end up at the doctor’s office only as a last resort.

Not very often does anyone stop to think that maybe they need to address their dietary needs first before they can even think about any other underlying causes. Not only is depression connected to emotional issues, but it can also be caused by hormonal deficiencies, toxicity, brain fatigue, and many other reasons.

Why would you want to take a drug that is only going to make matters worse for you in the long run? I’m always amazed how psychiatrist and psychologists want to promote talk therapy and recommend medication that will further deteriorate the body and “mask” the problem. We as educated people need to use common sense and recognize there is a better and safer way.

There are some great modalities out there which are “direct and to the point” when working with depression and the “issue”, but the bottom line is that the body needs to be healthy in order to handle the stress of working with the “issues.” Ask yourself this... How can a drug that covers up the way you feel help you to address the problem? How can talk therapy help you if you aren’t sure why you are depressed, or even if you really are depressed? Maybe you are just nutritionally deficient.

A person who is depleted of nutrients and already has underlying health problems just can’t handle dealing with stress the way a healthy, balanced person can. Remember, nutritional deficiencies can cause the body to be depressed because it isn’t running properly. Fix your nutrition then see how quickly you can get to the bottom of the depression or maybe even find out it wasn’t an issue at all, just poor diet and lack of the right nutrients.

Personally, I prefer to ask my body what it wants and needs, and in what order I should address it. It makes life much simpler, definitely safer and less expensive to handle things in the order your body wants rather than taking a wild guess and risking making everything ten times worse.

Research, ask around, there are a lot of great Naturopathic Physicians out there who know safer ways to help you to deal with the depression. Think outside the box and get the right help for yourself.
