Diogenes - I’m beginning to
feel that you could search the world over and never find an honest
man. The exception to this statement is exemplified by two contenders
for the presidency. These men are from opposite sides. Dennis
Kucinich, Democratic hopeful, was recently asked whom he would
choose as his running mate if he was chosen to represent his
party. “I’m thinking about Ron Paul [Republican]” as
a running mate, Kucinich told a crowd of about 70 at a New Hampshire
house party over the Thanksgiving weekend. A Kucinich-Paul administration
could bring people together “to balance the energies in
this country,” Kucinich said.
Both of these politicians are strong constitutionalists. Dr.
Paul never votes for anything that is not specifically authorized
in the Constitution. He insists that if it is not specifically
lined out, then it falls under “states rights”. Rep.
Kucinich carries a pocket size copy of the Constitution with
him, keeping it handy and brandishing it when he needs to make
a point.
While there is a huge chasm in their political views, Dr. Paul
and Rep. Kucinich are friends. When asked about the possibility
of a joint Kucinich/Paul ticket, Paul Communications director
Jesse Benton would only reply “They have worked, and will
continue to work, together on the ending the war and protecting
civil liberties. Elizabeth, Kucinich’s wife called Paul “a
great truth-teller.”
Although Oracle 20/20 Magazine does not officially support
any political candidate, I would like to ask you to look at the
field. Which of the candidates can stand up to close examination?
Hillary? Obama? (Check
out his church and decide for yourself.) Huckabee? His ethics
record coupled with his Bible thumping makes most of us cringe.
Romney? All, with the exception of Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul,
at one time or another have voted in favor of the U.S. involvement
in the Iraq war, although some now deny it. Those are in favor
of staying the course as a matter of honor. Is it honor or corporate
profits that are being defended? This is my question. Is it honor
to bring back Americans, the cream of our crop, in body bags?
Did we leave Viet Nam in honor?
I’ve heard many people state that they don’t “want
to waste their vote” by voting for an “underdog” or
voting for an unsuitable candidate. Please everyone vote out
of love, not out of fear in your state’s primary on Super
Tuesday.
Love and Light? - Which of these candidates actually support
that statement?
