"The Legend of Isis and Osiris"
By Sharon George
The motives behind my art are: beauty, spirituality and love. When I discovered
the art of Salvador Dali, my insides exploded and I could hardly breathe. Yes,
yes, this is art that touches my soul- Inner stories told through a primal symbolism.
Still, it took me many years to let myself create such work.
THE LEGEND OF
ISIS AND OSIRIS:
Once a year, when the star Sirius crests the horizon
of earth, the light from the star shines directly between the
sphinx’s
paws. Many believe the head was originally a lion.
Isis and Osiris were passionately in love. Osiris’ jealous
brother, Set, hacked Osiris into pieces and scattered the pieces
around the world. Isis traveled the world and gathered up her
lover’s body parts. She put him back together and breathed
life into him long enough to conceive their son, Horus. Isis
is revered in the ancient Egyptian religion as the goddess of
medicine and magic.
Horus, represented by the falcon, is believed to reside in the
Milky Way.
