Herb the Cat
Resolutions

Well, here it is again. A new year and as I look back on the old year I am amazed at the change in my consciousness. It’s like life has come at me hard and fast and I actually recognized some of my lessons and feel that I actually learned some of the ones I recognized. Just recognizing them means that I have the opportunity to learn them in 2008! WOW! What a concept! Now I am really excited! Knowing that my consciousness is expanding and I am growing spiritually makes me want to push even harder.
That’s enough about Herb so let’s turn to you. Have you been so lucky to actually recognize your lessons and know what they are? Whether or not you have, you need to get a journal and start writing down every time you are a witness or a party to a confrontation. (That’s something that humans can do that cats haven’t mastered yet, that writing thing.) A perfect example of this is a couple of homeless guys that came to live outside in my yard. A perfectly genteel and well-mannered vagabond cat took up residence in the abandoned dog house out back. My people started feeding him & he felt at home, but as soon as the new neighbor, a dog moved in he started hissing, got his back up and finally allowed the new neighbor to give him such a charge he moved out of the neighborhood. There was a real pay off for the new dog too. He got to get his adrenalin up, chasing and barking and intimidating the cat. I got my adrenalin up just watching them! When people confront someone, there is a charge of adrenalin surging through their body.

Remember that the movie “What The Bleep Do We Know” taught us that confrontation happens because of our addiction to the drugs our bodies make when we challenge or are challenged by others. We learned that we draw these people and situations to us. By recording them in your journal, you can start looking for a pattern. You see what you need to change about yourself and learn what you judge. Nothing happens by accident. The family member who irritates you (we all have one), or the person on your job who constantly aggravates you can be stopped, by you changing your consciousness. Make notes about what you need to work on and strive to stop reacting to other’s challenges. When you are no longer upset, they no longer get their charge, and they go looking for someone else to give them their fix and you are free of them! Imagine a pleasant family get-to-gather and you have a good time? What a concept! That should be your new years resolution; to stop the adrenalin flows from confrontations. Watch out, because you will have to get used to being happy all the time.
