Politics is amazing! We’re approaching
another presidential election year and we had just better get
ready for the onslaught. The amazing thing is that politicians
don’t seem to realize is that the average voter has a brain
and can actually remember what they have been saying over the
past several years. I’ll bet the candidates would be amazed
to find that some of us even check their voting records.
Some of those who are vehemently opposed to the war in Iraq
voted for it just a few short years ago. (You may have noticed
this issue carries a strong anti war message.) Please don’t get me wrong,
I am not against the soldiers who are fighting in this war. I’m
against the old men who took deferments to keep out of the service
during Vietnam and other foreign wars who seem to think little
or nothing of sending our best and brightest off to come home damaged
or in a body bag.
There’s another thing about politicians that I’m
rambling on about. Why is it the party who doesn’t believe
in abortion because “every live is sacred” that is
the first to invade a country, kill its citizens and destroy
its
peoples homes. Boy, that’s some family values for you.
The party that claims to be liberal and give the people the most “personal
freedoms” is the one that is pushing socialized medicine
and is in bed with the big pharmaceutical companies to “protect” us
from those “dangerous herbs”. Check the voting records
on all of these things and you’ll be shocked.
Can’t we just have less government. Are we such morons that
we need “big brother” to keep us. The recent rash of
city incorporations because “the county can’t provide
services” speaks to that trend. How many layers of bosses
do we need. It’s like the large corporations that get so
top heavy in management that they go under from their own weight.
We’re the worker bees and we have dozens of elected and appointed
officials taking our hard earned dollars and using our money against
us to make laws that make slaves of us. Why? Because they can.
We allow it.
This year, let’s try to make a statement with our votes.
I believe that we all want to escape the insanity and find a satisfactory
form of self government.
