Coping Versus
Healing - A Big Difference
by Charles Wm Skillas, PhD, DD, BCH, CI, FNGH
Modern
psychiatry, psychology and standard hypnotherapy are psychotherapy
techniques that relieve symptoms of distress. Psychiatry does
this through medication, which suppresses the symptom so you
don’t feel the suffering so badly. Psychology and standard
hypnotherapy relieve symptoms by teaching you how to cope with
the misery or by desensitizing you to its effects. The problem
is that even though the symptoms become bearable, the underlying
source of the symptom is still there. You just don’t feel
it so badly. Now, I am not deprecating what these modalities
do because they do help relieve misery and that is good, but
a more elegant way to get rid of symptoms is to get rid of the
cause of the problem and then you don’t have to learn to
how to bear it so it does not hurt so much.
I often get calls from suffering people who want to know if
I do pain management using hypnosis. Of course I cannot do pain
management because that is in the realm of the medical doctor
or other licensed professional and if I did that work, I could
go to jail. I tell these people that what I do is to open up
their life force energy (chi) channels to restore the flow of
chi to the cell communities of the body and that the effects
of this action is very salubrious to the body and that distress
from blocked chi is relieved. In other words, I do not manage
pain, but instead, I get rid of the source of it, which is the
blocked chi flow so pain does not have to be managed …it just is not there anymore.
This approach to healing
works for all misery symptoms because it addresses the basic
cause of all illness, which is, blocked chi flow to the cell
communities of the body. The most ancient model of disease that
exists on our planet and which is over four thousand years old
says, “all disease (problems), mental, emotional, physical
and spiritual are caused by improper functioning of the cells
of the body”. For cells to be healthy and thereby function
properly, cells need water, nutrition, oxygen and the life force
energy (chi). In most of our western world, we get enough to
eat, drink and breathe even though they may not be the best,
but what really adversely affects the body’s cell communities
is the reduction in the flow of the vital life force energy chi.
This chi-flow reduction is what causes the cell communities to
malfunction and produce all the distressful symptoms we feel.
By restoring the flow of Chi, health is restored. When negative
forcing functions, which block the flow of Chi are removed, we
accomplish true healing.
