Judi Thomases, founder of a women’s
spiritual network for meditation, teaching, and personal development,
and former director of an interdisciplinary self-development
center, has studied and written about metaphysics, astrology,
and intuitive sciences for three decades. Her writings have
been widely published and she has appeared often on radio and
TV.

In a world, where everything seems to be becoming more and more
difficult and more out of control, a book like this is a breath
of fresh air. It helps us to stabilize and get a perspective
on our personal lives and where we are heading with our choices
and our actions.
The essential point of this book is that life really doesn’t
take place outside of us, but inside of us. It’s up to
us individually, and that is something that we CAN control. In “Wisdom’s
Game,” the talented author, Judi Thomases, illustrates
the key to joy and the process for discovering how to turn pain
into joy is in our own hands. We just need access to it
by getting to know ourselves. Once we learn more about ourselves
and our intentions, we then have the ability to make change or
progress toward our goals.
We all have problems. Most of us would rather avoid them,
but in fact, facing reality is the best way to vanquish our problems.
And this book gives a practical approach with effective solutions
to approach our problems that keep us from participating fully
in our own lives. It’s as if our souls are playing a game
to ease our pain by pretending (denial). The biggest victory
is to know ourselves! When we do, we may find that we’ve
been avoiding what will actually give us the greatest joy. Learning
to listen to ourselves, our souls, we can find all the wisdom
and all the hope that we thought was lost to us. That’s
the whole idea of “Wisdom’s Game.”
The author writes: “We are saying that there is nothing
unnatural about your discontent, a fact to which all of psychology
must awaken. Neither antidepressants nor long-term psychoanalysis
will ever resolve or remove this longing for the greater self. There
is but one path out of the dilemma, and that is to reawaken and
to remember your true essence. You are unhappy because you
are so much more than this, and because you’ve forgotten
why you’re playing the game. Moreover, you have completely
forgotten its rules.” |
Rule#1: Remember your greater self at all times.
Rule
#2: See all that is happening to you as part of your bargain,
not as the trap or mess you have fallen into.
Rule#3: Remember
that no one but you devised the traps, messes, and dilemmas that
are causing you so much pain and discomfort.
Rule#4: Remember
the methods [outlined in this book] for changing every problem
into its opposite.”
According to the author, “the key to solving the dilemma
of dissatisfaction and pain” is in:
Rule#5: Use
your trump card, your ace in the hole, which is none other than
the control of thought.
I particularly liked the chapter, “Soul Choices.” Excerpt: “Some
people measure their worth, not against worldly accomplishments,
but against how well their choices reflect wisdom and benefit
humanity. They
don’t distinguish between their own good and the world’s
when taking creative action… these individuals comprise
the core of the push for enlightenment that is unfolding and
blossoming on planet Earth.”
In this book, you’ll find these exciting subjects: “How
to turn heartbreak into love that you can experience instantly,” “The
one mistake you’re making that keeps you from being happy
right now,” “Five ways to feel greater contentment
even under the worst of circumstances,” “Three metaphysical
secrets that will change the way you see your life,” and “How
to find the wisdom and joy you’ve been looking for since
you were born.”
By using the wisdom of the ages and common sense that we’ve
heard all of our lives but perhaps did not know how to apply, we
learn from our mistakes. We are responsible for our choices, reactions,
intentions, and most of all, our actions. When we feel overcome
by the negative, we can transform this into the positive by recognizing
that we are NOT failures, but that we are learning lessons that
will bear fruit.
None of the exterior riches or outside accomplishments mean
anything if we do not have conscious control of our own mind
and soul. All
of the true riches lie protected, deep within us. And it is up
to us to create the kind of person that we want to be.
I highly recommend this book.
