Sacred Vow by C.G. Walters
Book Review by Marie Claire Wilson
The most significant event of
our life often calls to us from barely beyond our perception...both
imminent and impossible...a call of the heart, of the spirit, and
of our self to which we have not yet been introduced.

“Sacred Vow” took me on an adventure. From a strictly intellectual
point of view, I could describe this book as being about parallel realities coming
together to heal a rift in the “collective consciousness.” And
very importantly, the book points out that that this is a breach that threatens
us all.
The author writes about a man, Ian Sarin, whose accomplishments are astonishing. The
most interesting part of this book is this adventure. In it the author
depicts a very special kind of call to all of us, an inspiring call down
a spiritual path to an adventure! Without doing it intentionally, indeed,
by doing it completely unconsciously, Ian Sarin responds to such a call. In
doing so, he finds himself opening a portal to the mysterious caller. Understanding
why the mysterious caller chooses Sarin impresses upon him a new understanding
and a new definition of both self and of the world where he lives.
The following excerpt was one that I liked very much, and it’s a good example
of Ian Sarin’s experience:
“It was about then that Ian’s logical mind regained its ability for
rationalizing and seized full control. I am sitting in my study, it proclaimed
forcefully. This is an illusion! Abruptly, the woman and her surroundings
dematerialized going from tangible form to ghost image to her absence, merely
a blurred perception of Ian’s study. His body and mind convulsed
when the last traces of the illusion retreated into the precise forms of the
study. A rush of confusing emotions was forcibly fused into his conscious
perception of himself and his reality.”
One of the most interesting aspects of this book is when he finds himself in
a body with a finely-tuned, heightened state of his natural senses. How
does he this happen? We could suppose that in continuing to evolve further
on this plane, he could go all the way into the highest level of consciousness. There,
he could take on, little by little, a fourth body composed of material that is
the most finely subtle that we can imagine. It’s perhaps by way of
these untested senses in this subtle body that he is ready to open the doors
to new dimensions. That’s most likely what happened when this Katerina,
his mentor, so very sharply described in every detail, appeared to him.
When all of the planes of consciousness are opened, when dealing with the invisible
world, everything is possible. That’s when the invisible appears and
communicates to us. This always takes place on the uppermost levels of the
mental plane, in the realm of our thoughts.
Here is an excerpt from another one of my favorite parts of the book. This seems
to me the most intense experience that Ian Sarin had. See what you think:
“Soon after his call with Djalma, Ian achieved his passionately sought
goal, meeting Katerina many more times… but he could not have imagined
what the feat would demand of him in return. Ian knew that in pursuing
love, one never intentionally asks to be made defenseless, gullible, and imprudent,
but many a love, as well as countless other great treasures, would not have come
to pass without first coming to possess some degree of those more dubious gifts.”
” To descend into this labyrinth that is life, full of pitfalls and
obstacles, and to so quickly arrive at the goal, the majority
of us would need to be guided. And when we are ready as
Ian Sarin was, and we open up and receive the communications
from the invisible that comes from the highest planes of consciousness,
that’s the moment that the entire Universe opens up to
us and we can spill over into new dimensions.
In this excerpt, Katerina suddenly speaks clearly in English.
“Twice Know,
Eternal waters of unlimited life.
Three times shown,
Mysterious ways of freeform flight.
I have seen,
Been forgotten, but revived.
I have died,
But never been denied.
Somewhere near,
The immortal dance begins.
Swirling sphere,
From which all life extends.”
The gift of this poem is not just in its beauty, but also in its
spiritual meaning. To me, this poem is reminding us that we
should never forget what life means. This life, this mortal
life here, is a mere link in the everlasting immortal life. Death,
as we all know deep in our hearts, is nothing more than a change
of states of being. Death is the end of the physical life,
life in this form, but it is not the death of the soul. Our
souls can never be destroyed. The physical body dies, but
the soul is the energetic body that surrounds it, that merely changes
its energy form to something that we do not yet know. What
we think of as our existence in this lifetime is really just a
continuation of many previous, continuous existences that are cumulative
and are destined to continue forever. Moreover, these existences
continue in better and better conditions, as we work to achieve
them. This process of life after life also calls to minds
these universal laws: like attracts like; and opposites or
things that are contrary to our soul’s mission will be repulsed. That’s
the message that I get from Katernia’s awe-inspiring poem.
Another thing that impressed me about this book is the fact that
Ian Sarin responded to such a call. He opened a portal to
the mysterious caller in order to understand why she called. That
understanding and openness on his part was what opened the doors
of his soul to the invisible. And because of that, she pressed
him further to an understanding that is marvelous: He understands
the other dimensions and the steps we must go though in life that
our souls must traverse as well. Katerina represents Ian’s
spiritual teacher, his mentor, his understanding of sacred rituals,
and of meditation. Katerina pushes Ian to focus himself on
this goal, and she becomes like the Crone Mother to him.
This is the kind of book that you will want to read and reread
as it takes you on a very mysterious voyage into the invisible,
into the world of the soul.
This theme will never leave you... I recommend that
you meditate after reading this book. I think that this way,
you will retain more of the book’s message that you can bring
back to your own consciousness and use as a tool to achieve your
own goals. The resources in this book are impossible to describe
in a simple review like this. Just open up and be receptive,
and you will receive a wonderful gift from this author. Marie-Claire
