Traditional Chinese medicine has thousands
of years of history. It includes acupuncture, Tui Na, Chinese herbs
and other modalities, such as Gua Sha, Qi Gong and Chinese reflex
therapy. The Chinese reflex therapy that I use is different from
any other reflex therapy. They combine two Chinese medical therapies
to solve health problems and heal and balance the whole body. The
two Chinese medical therapies are Chinese reflex therapy and herbal
bath therapy. This is another new natural therapy brought by ancient
Chinese healing art to our society. It is a great contribution
for our community.
Chinese reflex therapy is guided by traditional Chinese medicine.
There are various special manipulations applied to the feet to
stimulate certain acupoints and reflex areas in order to promote
the movement of Chi in the meridians and help the blood from the
feet circulate, then to regulate the physiological changes in the
organs or the systems of the whole body. It also functions to prevent
illness, assist acupuncture treatment and keep your body well.
Chinese people have long used reflex therapy to help with health
problems. In the book, The Yellow Emperor’s Canon of Internal
Medicine (the earliest medical classic in China, which appeared
in the Warring States Period BC 475 – 22), The Yong Quan
(K1) acupoints (located on the bottom of feet) were recorded to
be used to treat certain illnesses. The father of traditional Chinese
medicine, Dr. Si Miao Zhang, used reflex therapy in his practice,
as well as on his own body. He had lived 101 years old (AD 581 – 682.)
The feet are far away from the heart and located in the lowest
position on the body. Since human beings started standing up to
walk instead of creeping, the circulation of the feet has been
poorer and slower than in other parts of the body. If the circulation
in the feet is improved, it will help the blood return to the heart
to prevent heart problems. So the feet also are called the second
heart of the body.
Additionally, the connection with
the earth’s core makes the body’s supersession deposited
in feet, and this treatment will help, dispelling the deposited
supersession through kidney and bladder to improve the blood circulation.
Chinese reflex therapy treats your complaints, but also balances
the whole body (Yin and Yang) increases the energy of the organs
and glands, and improves immunity.
How do the thirty-eight acupoints on the foot in Chinese reflex
therapy work? First, the feet are soaked in herbal water formulated
specifically to the individual’s condition. The body absorbs
Chinese herbs through the feet. Second, the practitioners use their
hands or tools to treat the feet. When practitioners treat certain
meridians, acupoints and reflex areas on the feet, the strong nerve
actuation transmits to the central nervous system of the brain
to excite the centers to restrain the pathologic actuation and
replace pathologic signals, leading to the strengthening of the
body’s resistance to eliminate the pathologic factors. Through
the nerve reflex, the body’s regulation function can be stimulated.
The energy of organs can be activated, releasing you own healing
genes. Chinese reflex therapy has the twofold function of regulating
the body, which brings balance to the whole body by bringing high
blood pressure down and low blood pressure up. It is very helpful
for insomnia, depression, anxiety, high cholesterol, over weight,
low metabolism, diabetes, indigestion, headache, menstruation pain,
fibromyalgia, stress, etc. It can make people feel more relaxed
and positive (confident). Take care of your feet, so you can walk
longer and happier down your road of life.
