With all the avoidance
of any press about CAFTA and CODEX, the big drug companies should
be pretty happy with the outcome of the votes. Both Senators from
Georgia voted for CAFTA. I really wonder if Johnny Isakson really
even knew that by doing so he was depriving his constituency of
the rights to buy herbs and supplements. Did Saxby Chambliss plan
for us to be at the mercy of Big Pharm or did he just not bother
to read the legislation?
This new law was passed illegally in the House of Representatives
with one member being quoted as saying that Bush wanted to “twist
their arms to the breaking point” to get this bill passed
into law. The House of Representatives initially voted against
the bill, but were coerced for an hour and a half over the allowable
time limit for members to change their votes. It was finally rammed
through with only a one vote margin.
What can we as citizens do about this infringement on our very
right to health? We can vote against every politician that voted
for this debacle. We can march on the Capitol in droves and refuse
to buy the drugs that the big corporations try to push on us. We
can quit believing what we hear on “the news”. (Ruters
News Agency is a subsidiary of the largest Pharmaceutical Company
in the world)
As you will remember, I have supported the Libertarian ticket for
the past two elections. My husband tells me that I’m throwing
away my vote. He says that the Libertarian stance on drugs has
made it unappealing for the vast number of American voters. Change
must begin somewhere. If we all divide into Greens, Libertarians,
Independents, then we scatter our power. I call for the formation
of a new political party which embraces the values of the people
of this country.
Is this an impossible dream? It is if complacency dominates the
world and the public is more interested in “American Idol” or
some reality show than participation in their own lives.
Turn off the tube (it is full of subliminal brainwashing messages).
If you want to know the truth surf the web while you still can.
Read independent publications that are not a part of the disinformation
propaganda laden “news”. Open your eyes and ears. Look
at what is happening in other countries and be afraid! Not in a
way that fear dominates your life, but in a way that you are filled
with righteous indignation and demand change!
