Signs on the Earth: Deciphering the Message of
Virgin Mary Apparitions, UFO, Encounters, and Crop Circles

By Richard Leviton Review By Marie-Claire Wilson
Richard Leviton is the author of eleven books, including, most recently, The Emerald Modem: A User’s Guide to Earth’s Interactive Energy Body (Hampton Roads, 2004). He regularly conducts workshops and field trips on the subject of myth, sacred sites, and landscape spirituality. He Lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he is the director of the Blue Room Consortium, which he describes as a “cosmic mysteries think tank” to do with Earth energies, mapping, and interactions.
What will become of the Earth? Apocalypse or rebirth?  This is one of the most important questions that we can consider in our times, and the author passes this main message on to us in his fascinating book. Our Earth is actually a cosmic bulletin board receiving galactic messages from other spiritual dimensions more subtle than our physical reality. If we admit it, we can see that the signs on the Earth are powerful. The main message of the signs from the Earth is, everything is energy.
APOCALYPSE
The divided Earth signifies all that may divide us, along with the division caused by hatred that abounds in this incarnation. Our mother Earth should be respected, yet we humans have caused pollution and have not paid attention to our source, much less shown respect.  The Earth has become ill from all of this abuse, and we have obviously manifested this illness – just take a look at the atmosphere all around us. If we let this illness fester, if we continue to pollute and abuse our mother Earth, then soon the Earth will no longer be able to support us. The apocalypse will happen and we will be the cause of it.
REBIRTH
Necessary outcome and mandatory transformation of all that exists.  Death is a radical transformation of the Earth, and from that will be the rebirth where another reality will be possible. With cleansing will come a different world, a new freedom, a new vision, a new understanding. Time and space show the wisdom of this necessary change or transformation. Our mother Earth is actually a cosmic bulletin board receiving galactic messages from other spiritual dimensions more subtle than our physical reality. These messages are not random.  If the human race does not understand and heed the warnings of destiny, we will be pay dearly and bathe in the karma that we create and deserve.
This book is divided into three parts. In Part One, “Light in the Blood,” apparitions of Mary are seen as preparations for rebirth through the Earth’s visionary geography.
Part Two of the book, “Clouds of Smoke,” UFO and ET visitations represent eruption of the Galaxy into the world around us. In Part Three, “A Pillar of Fire,” crop circles represent a language of light in Albion’s Golden Band.
In the beginning of the book, the author gives us a glossary the key terms of geomancy, which is the art of divination by reading signs on the Earth. This glossary of geomantic terms explains concepts that may seem unfamiliar to some of us readers. For example, “Albion” is one of the many mythic names for an anthropomorphic figure that represents and embodies the totality of creation. Geomantically, it refers to this expression at three levels on the Earth: one for the entire planet, 12 for the subdivisions of the Earth, and 432 for the landscape zodiacs on the Earth.  Other examples: “Egregors” are beings that watch and protect a particular geomantic region, a kind of country’s navel.  “Tree of life” is an interactive template of the four worlds, or primal realms of air, fire water, and earth, as mythically represented by four of the Greek gods, Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, and Gaea, respectively, with the physical Earth as a grounding point.
One of the chapters that amazed me was “Everywhere the Woman Clothed with the Sun: Discerning the where of Marian Apparitions.”  The Virgin Mary is called “the woman clothed with the sun” as the Divine Mother and the vital life force of the Universe that is manifest into woman’s form.  This vital and universal life force is the spiritual principle expressed through this messenger of Mary through her different forms and aspects.  Her power is in the consciousness of her manifestation, represented in our own human manifestation, and it is reflected in the infinity of her appearances through these waves of energetic power from the Earth.  She is the only and unique feminine divinity who can appear in different ways, compared to the distinct masculine divinities.  She is the balancing energy in the Universe, a celestial virgin (representing the power of the mind), and the mother of the Earth that supports us.  This is why Mary gives us such powerful signs from the Earth.  I write here so fervently about the Virgin Mary because the author really made me think.  His presentation of all the varied descriptions show how there are so many different Mary apparitions.  I read them again paying close attention.  She is also very powerful because she incorporates both the life and death principles.  To be born is to leave the mother’s womb, and to die is to go back to the Earth that brought us to life.  She is the most important messenger for us.
