Many factors influence weight gain. For example, heredity, imbalance of the internal organs, certain illness (diabetes, etc.), certain drugs, insomnia, stress, emotional tension, boredom, hormone, imbalance, poor eating habits, nutritional imbalance, and lack of exercise.
Usually, anyone who is 20 percent over the normal weight is considered to be overweight. What is normal weight for you? The normal weight is calculated in this way: for female, height (cm) minus 110 equal the normal female weight (kg); for male, height (cm) minus 105 equal the normal male weight (kg).
In Traditional Chinese medicine, over-weight is symptomatic of body imbalance. Traditional Chinese medicine doctors take Western medical diagnosis as a point of reference and will use traditional Chinese medicine to analyze the entire system and then decide on a treatment plan.
To better understand the human body, compare it to a city. Acupuncture meridians can be compared to the highway of the city. The over-weight body may be compared to a city with a congested road system. Treatment for this condition using Traditional Chinese medicine is to place acupuncture needles into certain acupoints. This functions as a traffic light in the city’s streets and clears up the congestion.
Because over weight is caused by different factors, the treatment plan is individualized. Generally, acupuncture treatment does result in weight loss with the first treatment. But after two or three courses of treatment, people usually lose weight by themselves. That is because acupuncture takes time to strengthen the internal organs, balance hormones, regulate the endocrine system, stimulate blood circulation, improve metabolism and maintain the entire body. When the body is in good order, the excess fat is reduced automatically. After receiving acupuncture, patients feel their mood is improved, their energy is better, they sleep better, have less stress and their quality of life is greatly improved.
Acupuncture helps weight loss programs produce better results. it also helps people maintain weight loss. Permanent weight loss cannot rely on acupuncture alone. Exercise, diet, and a lifetime commitment to a healthier lifestyle are necessary. There are many special diets for weight loss. I suggest that you should consider the season, geographical location, blood type, occupation, and sex when you select your own special diet.
The experts think aerobic exercise is ideal for weight loss. Exercise burns fat and also builds muscle, it regulates the metabolism of fat and sugar. It can improve the state of mind, body and spirit. For effective weight Loss, exercise must be done at least 5 times a week, over 30 minutes per session. Low or medium intensity aerobics are better. The heart rate should remain in the medium range. Aerobic exercises include slow running, medium speed walking, bicycle riding, skating, hiking, dancing, stair climbing and swimming.
Losing weight too fast can cause health problems. It is better to lose 2- 3 pounds but not more than 5 pounds per week. Rapid weight loss causes loss of body fluid and may lead to health problems. Weight loss requires patience and confidence. It is advisable to make short term and long-term weight loss plans. For safe weight loss, consult your traditional Chinese medicine doctors. I hope you gain energy, lose weight, stay healthy and live long.
