Over thousands of years, Chinese people have recognized the relationship
between nature and humans. They have also recognized the relationship
between thought and the body. There is a test that has been successfully
repeated. The participants relax their whole body and gently close their
eyes. The palms of their hands are put together as in prayer. They concentrate
on their left hand growing, meanwhile, they visualize their right hand
shortening. The result is that their left hand becomes longer. You may
try this test yourself.
Thought is a kind of magical wizardly. It has power over substance. Three
thousand years ago, Chinese people developed a thought technique, known
as Qi Gong, which they practice to improve health, strengthen the body,
and deepen concentration. The basic theory of Qi Gong is Yi (Book of
Changes) the sutra of Chinese philosophy. Directed by this philosophy,
Chinese people discovered Chi, the vital energy and the tool used to
communicate between the human body and the universe. Traditional Chinese
medicine was established on this basis.
Chi flows through the meridian system. Through regulating the Chi channels,
illness and diseases can be eliminated. Traditional Chinese medicine,
acupuncture, and its diagnostic technique were built on this basis. In
The Yellow Emperor s Canon of Internal Classic, it states the Chi of
heaven and the earth influence the body. That means the body and the
universe are a holistic system. Scientists have used special equipment
to validate that Chi does indeed exist.
Many famous Chinese doctors have used this treatment. They transfer energy
to their patients bringing about recovery. This unique energy is received
by healers during meditation. When we apply acupuncture needles on patients
body, we transfer the energy through the needles. Patients usually ask
us if there is medicine on needles. Truthfully, it is not medicine; it
is Chi.
Thought has the unique power to change the form of substance. This comes
from its reaction with energy. As scientific technique develops, we will
find the secret of this unique energy so that we can all benefit from
it.
